Sept. 29, 2009
Today I went to our Ateneo Operations Center for Relief Work for the Flood Victims. It was a very encouraging scene--highly spirited but seriously concerned about the suffering people. It is a scene happening in other schools and trimedia centers. Volunteers from all over doing their bit to help the dispossesed and suffering. Amazing how tragedy and disaster moves us all to unite to serve and help.

Destructive Metro Manila Floods
Sept.27, 2009
So many residents trapped in flooded homes are going hungry and without adequate warm clothes. Especially, those who have been in rooftops for the second night. One subdivision had 18 residents drown inside their homes where the waters reached ground ceiling level. Praying that the rains stop and the waters recede immediately.

FLOODED METRO MANILA
Sunday, Sept.27, 2009
It's the day after the big storm that hit Luzon in the Philippines. Badly damaged by the continuous rains is Metro Manila, especially Marikina Valley. I got stranded in school (Ateneo) till late evening because the road outside was flooded till evening. Picture taken by a friend shown above, Interestingly, during the heavy rains yesterday I saw one small white butterfly fluttering to find refuge in one of the old giant acacia trees. Today, there were more fluttering butterflies at the flower garden of Mary, near the college chapel.

Sunday Lunch with My Godchildren
Had an intimate and delicious lunch (cooked by Gina) last Sunday, 9/20 with my godchildren and their baby. The other couple's baby (6 weeks) was with his visiting grandparents. Am blest to have these friends. The little baby was talking with someone in the piano room for an hour. We all said that must be Norman playing with her.

NORMAN AND BUTTERFLIES
September 12, 2009
Since Norman moved on to the better life I have been happy to continuously encounter all sorts of colorful butterflies. The young priest who celebrated his 1st anniversary memorial Mass last Aug.27, 2009 spoke of the butterfly as the manifestation of a person who has died and has been transformed into a free and happy individual. Hence, I am elated everytime I encounter butterflies. They continue to be, I believe, manifestations and affirmations of Norm's happy situation and continuous caring for all of us that he loved dearly. Thank God. Godbless and cheers.
