Eve of Palm Sunday

April 12, 2015

Had a very busy Saturday. 2nd and last day of our Ateneo JGSOM Strategic Review and Planning for 2020. It was also the ordination of 8 young Jesuits to the priesthood at the Church of the Gesu. Was ablt to catch the anticipated Mass at our parish church and had my palms blest.

Christmas 2012

Boxing Day 2012

This Christmas Season has been so hectic but wonderful. In addition to getting some things completed before Christmas Day both at work and at home, I did my annual gift giving to streetchildren under the Katipunan overpass on Dec.24, after I admitted to the Quirino Medical Center, our former NDCP library aide, Tess de la Cruz, who is suffering from serious diabetes complications. She is still confined for treatment of a foot wound that could lead to amputation if it foes not heal soon. After the giftgiving I took putong ube, kakanins and cash gifts to my favorite convents: Mother Teresa's Center of Love, the Alagad ni Maria Seminary, the Divine Zeal Sisters Convent, the Monasterio de Sta. Clara and the Good Shepherd Sisters community.  I attended midnite Mass at the Good Shepherd Sisters community chapel, where they had a unique belen with Mary reclining with the baby Jesus after giving birth. I had a simple noche buena at home with my brother Freddy and his family. Then I went to the annual Prado Family reunion. The Prados are my second family since we were graduate students with former Secretary Pete Prado.

Christmas Day, I again visited Tess at the hospital to take her some food and buy her medicines. Hopefully, her high fever has subsided, thank God. From the hospital, I visited my detained Ateneo Grade School batchmate, former PCSO Chairman Serge Valencia to take him an Ateneo diary. His parents (99 y.o. Papa and 88 y.o. Mama) were there as well as his siblings and children.

Had Christmas lunch of roast chicken and rellenong bangus with adobong kangkong. After lunch I took a long restful siesta then prepared my gifts for our annual Lopez-Jacinto-Villavicencio Christmas reunion dinner at my Ating Minna's. It was so fun and enjoyable with so many nephews and nieces and their kids. My Mama was so happy in her great age of 93. She turns 94 in Feb.

Am so grateful for this simple happy Christmas. I shall continue to carry on with my happy work of serving my schools, students and community as I praise and thank God.

Maligayang Pasko.

Grateful for a New Opportunity

March 5, 2016

Sixteen years ago, accompanied Philippine First Lady Loi Estrada to Rome, on the invitation of Cardinal Ricardo Vidal of Cebu City, to the beatification of San Pedro Calungsod. I was blest to be in the Vatican on Jubilee Year and was so happy that I was chosen to be the Filipino representative to receive Holy Communion from St. Pope John Paul II at the Vatican open air Mass.

Last Tuesday, I was invited to serve as an independent external trustee of the Resorts World Foundation, to fund programs in education, health, environment and culture from 2% of their gross revenues from their gaming and entertainment businesses. Deo gratias! Called to serve His anawim.

Yeba! Magnificat anima mea Domino!
