President Diosdado Macapagal's Centenary

September 28, 2010

Today is President Diosdado Macapagal's Centenary and there were celebrations all day. Wreath layings were held at his birthplace and grave graced by his children former President Gloria and Arthur in Lubao and Cielo at the Libingan ng Mga Bayani. The children donated the ancestral home and museum to the National Historical Commission. Big breakfast, lunch and dinner (the last event at the Manila Hotel).

I was surprised and very happy to be publicly cited by former President Gloria for helping out in the celebration.

Cheers

QUIET SUNDAY

Sep.25, 2010

Time seems to go fast these days as we approach Christmastime. The malls are already playing carols and have their decorations. Meanwhile, am quietly sorting my schedules to attend to my teaching and consulting plus competing my long-due dissertation. Godbless.

HARIRAYA BLESSINGS

PS Woke up early to commute to Quiapo, where the Golden Mosque is to concelebrate with our Moslem brethren this happy feast. Attended first the devotional Mass of the Black Nazarene at the Quiapo Minor Basilica, a kilometer away. The basilica was packed with over 3,000 devotees for the 7am Mass. The earlier Masses, starting at 4am were also packed by devotees. Quiapo was in a very festive mood. After praying at the Mosque I had a halal breakfast of curried shrimps and vegetable omelette and rice in one of the Moslem restaurants together with many Moslem celebrants. Great day for Moslem and Christian brethren.

Relief from my Post

September 2, 2010

Late afternoon yesterday, I received an unsealed letter from the Senior Deputy Executive Director, Atty. Amor Amorado, Office of the President, dated August 26, 2010. It informed me that I was being relieved of my post as Executive Director of the National Historical Commission of the Philippines because I was a midnight appointee of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. I informed our Chairman and Board of Commissioners of this matter, something which I was already expecting.

I want to thank the Lord for a wonderful 2 and a half months of serving happily in an organization that promotes patriotism and cultural consciousness. I have received very warm cooperation from Management and the Staff, for which I will forever be grateful.

I will move on with continued hope and enthusiasm to keep doing good, for in the end the Lord provides His just rewards. For, He has plans for us to succeed and prosper and not fail.

The Lord gives and the Lord takes away. Blessed be the Lord forever. AMDG+
